I usually go for a skinny leg on my pants and I really like an ankle length pant…even in the winter when there is tons of snow everywhere. What I do is put socks on and my winter boots until I get to work, then take my boots and socks off and put shoes on once I’m at work. Sometimes I like to switch it up a bit and wear a full length wide leg pant though.
A tip if you are going to go for the wide leg pant. It is often more flattering if you go with a fitted top. I know I didn’t do that with this outfit, but, I usually do wear a more fitted top with wide leg pants.
Now, lets talk pant leg length. How long should your pants be? Well it depends on the style of pant but a good rule of thumb is that there should be about an inch between the ground and the end of your pant legs. If I had worn flats with these pants, that wouldn’t work would it? So you need to be selective with the shoes you wear with full length pants.
For Ankle length pants, I usually like to have a gap between the end of my pant legs and the top of my ankle boots of about 1 to 2 inches. This might mean that I have to roll up the pant leg a bit depending on how high my ankle boots come up. If you are wearing shoes (flats or heals) then I don’t worry too much about where the legs of my ankle pants stop but in general I like them to be an inch or so above my ankle bone.
For a full length skinny pant or jean I like the legs of my pants to just graze the top of my foot. This will work with flats or heals. If I’m wearing ankle boots I’ll roll up the bottom of the pants usually. Sometimes I leave them unrolled though like this…it just depends on the ankle boot and the look I’m going for.
